State Employee Appreciation Day

Dear NC State community,

We’ve faced an incredibly challenging time over the past six months as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout these difficult months, I’ve needed the help of the entire Wolfpack family to ensure the university continues to fulfill its mission of providing world-leading education, cutting-edge research and innovative scholarship. All of our faculty and staff have made extraordinary contributions toward that effort.

Each of you, whether you’ve been working from home or on-site as a mandatory employee, deserves recognition for the invaluable services you’ve provided to our students, parents, partners and others on behalf of NC State.

The governor has designated this week as State Employee Recognition Week and today as State Employee Appreciation Day. In honor of this occasion, I want to let each of you know how much I appreciate your dedication to NC State and how especially thankful I am to you for your efforts in response to the pandemic. Your unwavering dedication to NC State makes me proud to be part of the Pack.

We have so many reasons to honor you. When I think of all we’ve accomplished despite the difficulties of this unprecedented time, I’m truly amazed. Our faculty have transitioned from teaching classes in person to teaching online — not once, but twice. Most of our staff have shifted from working in offices to working at home. And, our essential employees ensure that our critical campus operations continue without interruption.

The university owes each of you a great deal of gratitude. In this video, other university leaders join me in thanking you.

Gratefully,

Randy Woodson
