Listening, learning and celebrating success
Good morning, Wolfpack community,
As we move into summer, I want to thank our community for the warm welcome I’ve received since Day 1 on the job in early May. Over the past several weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with and hearing from many of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends about their passion for the university, their ideas and more.
In particular, I enjoyed meeting some of our faculty and staff at employee appreciation events in May, as well as at the Awards for Excellence ceremony earlier this month. I’ve also had opportunities to share the important work we’re doing with our elected officials — at both the state and federal level. As the largest public institution in North Carolina, we provide an incredible value not just in educating students, but in conducting research and driving economic growth for our state.
To that end, I am excited to share that NC State has again been recognized by the Princeton Review for our quality, accessibility and affordability. We ranked No. 6 among public universities for best value for students with no demonstrated financial need, No. 9 for return on investment, No. 11 for best alumni network and No. 15 for internship opportunities.
This news, coupled with the many interactions I’ve had with our community, elected officials and friends over the past several weeks, continues to reinforce what I’ve known for a long time: NC State is a special place doing incredible things for the people of North Carolina and beyond.
In the weeks ahead, I look forward to seeing the heart of our campus come alive as we continue to host incoming students for orientation sessions. I also plan to remain engaged with members of our Pack to understand key needs and how we can advance the goals of the institution together.
Thank you for all you do, and go Pack!
