Entrepreneurship at NC State

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

On April 5, NC State hosted the Lulu eGames, where Wolfpack student entrepreneurs pitch their ideas for a chance to win $100,000 in prizes to launch their ventures. This is one of many opportunities that students have to gain entrepreneurial experience on campus.

NC State Entrepreneurship is an alliance of programs to foster innovation and discovery. It includes the Albright Entrepreneurs Living and Learning Village on NC State’s Centennial Campus, which encourages students to collaborate on new ventures. The Garage provides students with the materials and space for brainstorming ideas, designing prototypes, and gaining expert advice. And the Entrepreneurship Clinic connects students, faculty and staff with local businesses to tackle real-world problems in industry.

Colleges also offer many entrepreneurship opportunities for students, which provide transferable experience for graduates. The Entrepreneurship Collaborative in the Poole College of Management, for example, pairs students directly with local businesses, challenging them with real-world situations. The College of Design, College of Engineering, and the Poole College of Management offer a joint course – the Product Innovation Lab – that allows interdisciplinary teams of graduate students to work on sponsored projects. In addition, the Music Department offers the Arts Entrepreneurship Program and Minor, helping students launch successful arts ventures.

These entrepreneurship initiatives are just one of the many ways NC State fosters our Think and Do spirit. I hope you will be involved, whether by putting forward ideas or supporting new ventures. Congratulations to the Lulu eGames contestants, and Go Pack!
