Supporting Partnerships Abroad and at Home

Dear NC State Community:

This summer I had the pleasure of traveling to Europe and around North Carolina and witnessed the wonderful work that NC State students, faculty, and researchers are conducting.

During my stop at the University College Cork in Ireland, I met with NC State students participating in a civil engineering study abroad program and saw the excellent work they were accomplishing.

I also met with senior leadership at the Advanced Technology Institute and the Center for Vision, Speech, and Signal Processing at the University of Surrey and the University of Freiburg in Germany. At each of these universities, we examined areas in which we could increase collaboration to further our exchange of thought, culture, and perspective—all important to innovation.

Collaboration is also a focus for us closer to home. I visited NC State research centers in in Asheville and Plymouth this summer as well. These campuses have extensive opportunities that allow students and faculty to engage in premier research and form relationships with skilled professors and researchers in our home state.

NC State continues to provide one of the top educations in North Carolina and make its mark on the surrounding community while it expands its partnerships abroad to make its mark on the world. Thank you for helping NC State positively impact communities in North Carolina and around the globe.

Sincerely,

Randy Woodson
