Strengthening International Partnerships
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
I recently took a trip to South America with faculty and other colleagues from NC State where we worked to develop new relationships, strengthen existing partnerships, and support student development at home and abroad.
Our NC State contingent visited a number of universities and institutions in Colombia and Chile to discuss future collaborations. As part of the trip NC State signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universidad del Tolima to establish the framework for future collaborations, and extended agreements to enhance existing partnerships like the Animal Food and Nutrition Consortium and our student exchange program with the Universidad de Concepción.
In addition, we created a number of new partnership agreements that will bolster innovative research projects, programs for faculty development, the diversity of our student enrollment, and student exchange opportunities. I met with NC State students currently studying abroad at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and heard how that experience is already shaping their lives and future goals.
The partnerships we cultivate and nourish with institutions in Chile and Colombia are great examples of similar agreements we have with universities across the globe that are vital to NC State’s goals of innovative research and educational excellence, and that provide unsurpassed opportunities to our students and broader community. You can read a more detailed account of our work in South America on the Office of Global Engagement’s website.
Together we continue to elevate the university’s reputation and develop collaborations so we can effectively use our expertise to tackle the grand challenges of today’s world.
