Charleston Church Shooting

Dear NC State Community:

Last night’s appalling and tragic shooting that killed nine parishioners at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, has shocked and saddened individuals and communities throughout the nation and across the world, including here at NC State.

I know I speak for our larger Wolfpack family in stating our thoughts and deepest sympathies go to the families, friends and many others impacted by this senseless tragedy.

We understand all too well how a tragic shooting can affect a community and also know this news from Charleston can deeply impact many in our own NC State family. If anyone at NC State feels the need to talk with someone, professional counselors are available for students throughout the day at the Counseling Center located in the Student Health Center on Cates Avenue or by phone at 919-515-2423. Faculty and staff can access counseling services through FASAP, the faculty and staff assistance program, by calling 866-467-0467.

Sincerely,

Randy Woodson
